Death Penalty and African Americans

December 28, 2007 on 7:21 pm | In Uncategorized | 1 Comment

I don’t see why we have the death penalty in American. It is a bias penalty and solves nothing. It does nott deter crime. The majority of the people who are killed using the death penalty are African American. Why are African Americans given the death penalty more than whites or any other race?

Michael Vick -a Real Man

August 28, 2007 on 5:31 pm | In African American's | No Comments

Before the story came out about Michael Vicks, I honestly did not know who he was.  I had never heard his name before and I knew absolutely nothing about him. I still don’t know much about him, I know he plays football but that’s it.  The first time I saw his face I knew that he was not a heartless, coldblooded cruel person.  I think Michael Vick made a bad choice. Michael Vick said it best himself when  he said “ What I did was immature, so that means I need to grow up”.  Every time I  see Michael Vicks on t.v. my heart aches.   It takes a real man, a real humble individual, a person who is truly sorry for his actions to stand up before the world and say, ” I apologize for the things, I’ve done, and the things, I have allowed to happen.   I totally ask for forgiveness and understanding as I move forward to bettering Michael Vick the PERSON, not the football player.
“I take full responsibility for my actions. For one second will I sit right here–not for one second will I sit right here and point the finger and try to blame anybody else for my actions or what I’ve done. I’m upset with myself, and, you know, through this situation I found Jesus and asked him for forgiveness and turned my life over to God. Like I said, for this–for this entire situation I never pointed the finger at anybody else, I accepted responsibility for my actions of what I did and now I have to pay the consequences for it. But in a sense, I think it will help, you know, me as a person. I got a lot to think about in the next year or so.
Come on people is this man sorry or what? Why 12-18 months or more in prison?  I really think that this is starting to become a white and black issue.  Why throw the book at the young black man with the cornrowns? Oh is it because he is a young black male with cornrows?  God has forgiven him so why can’t society?  I say no jail time for Michael Vicks.  What are your thoughts?   Share your thoughts and win .  Get more information about this book at : http://www.niyae.com/michael_vick_awesome_atheletes.php
